Pop Web site in new window   Costa Rica: Arts and Culture
These essays, part of the excellent Moon Publications Travel Series, are a great dose of brain food. Light on interesting graphics but loaded with insightful info on topics such as art, music, theater and dancing. No outstanding links, but some topics have a few listings for local cultural groups and institutions.

Pop Web site in new window   Costa Rica: History
Extensive Moon Publications article covers the history of the country dating back to the 16th century and presents a comprehensive dateline to 1990. If you love to know all about a place before you go, this is highly recommended.

Pop Web site in new window   Guide Magazine: Costa Rica
This Costa Rican magazine Guide may not look exciting at first glance, but search the articles (current and back issues), you'll be glad you did. A diverse selection of well written features, with photos, presents a real slice of Costa Rican life. Guidebooks on sale.

Pop Web site in new window   San Jose: National Theater
This Guide magazine article lovingly pays tribute to one of Costa Rica's most treasured monuments, the century-old National Theater in San Jose. Don't miss the spectacular photos, and make sure to note the visiting info at the bottom of the page. Link back to the home page for more great articles.

Pop Web site in new window   Costa Rica: Museo Nacional
The official site of the National Museum is written in Spanish. Even though it offers only cursory information and few photos, most visitors should be able to grasp the basics.

Pop Web site in new window   San Jose, Costa Rica: 15 Museums
Imagine a page about museums with absolutely no pictures, and here it is--a brief list of less than a dozen San Jose museums, which at least lists hours and locations. To its credit, this dull page is part of a more comprehensive general CR site, so take a look at the other pages.
