Irish lodgings that capture the imagination: windmills, lighthouses, thatched cottages, converted barns, etc. The site lets you click on maps as well pull-down sites: it will take a little getting used to, but you will really celebrate when you see the info that turns up!

The pulsing red heart on the front page made us think we were going to get inside info about staying in private Irish homes, but no such luck: just names, addresses and phones for B&Bs and self-catering situations by county.

We are not a fan of this kind of lodging guide which lets you pick out your required facilities and then the county you desire--because it never works. If you do use it, just pick one (at most two) of your greatest needs or wants (nonsmoking, for instance) and then click your location. You'll fare better.
